The most critical skill to be a successful cold caller is the ability to tactfully push through the “no’s”

Don’t

  • Pitch the gatekeeper
  • Ignore/disregard what they say
  • Get frustrated or offended
  • Get discouraged
  • Be misleading or dishonest

Do

  • Expect them to say “no”
  • Be courteous of their time
  • Listen to what they say
  • Respect the final “no”

Cold Calling Framework Example:

  1. Preparation
  2. List of emails/phone numbers
  3. Your value proposition and offer
  4. Your script
  5. Mindset and attitude
  6. Ammunition
  7. Do your research
  8. You get to familiarize yourself with them before you speak
  9. Find needs and opportunities
  10. Find common ground (mutual friends, locations, scenarios, interactions, etc.)
  11. Have a customized offer ready for them
  12. Introduction
  13. BE BRIEF
  14. They don’t care who you are, so tell them just enough so the call makes sense
  15. If you skip over this, prospects may get irritated
  16. Common Ground
  17. Make them feel attached
  18. Common ground builds trust and buys you a little more time with them
  19. This is the best way to put the prospect at ease and get them to actually listen
  20. The Reason
  21. Get to the point and don’t waste their time
  22. “The reason I’m calling is…”
  23. Be tactful with your reason for calling
  24. Inspired Question
  25. Ask the right question
  26. Should not be able to be answered with a “Yes” or “No”
  27. Invitation
  28. Don’t invite them to hire you
  29. Invite them to receive some free value
  30. NEVER leave the conversation without some sort of invitation or commitment
