Don’t
- Pitch the gatekeeper
- Ignore/disregard what they say
- Get frustrated or offended
- Get discouraged
- Be misleading or dishonest
Do
- Expect them to say “no”
- Be courteous of their time
- Listen to what they say
- Respect the final “no”
Cold Calling Framework Example:
- Preparation
- List of emails/phone numbers
- Your value proposition and offer
- Your script
- Mindset and attitude
- Ammunition
- Do your research
- You get to familiarize yourself with them before you speak
- Find needs and opportunities
- Find common ground (mutual friends, locations, scenarios, interactions, etc.)
- Have a customized offer ready for them
- Introduction
- BE BRIEF
- They don’t care who you are, so tell them just enough so the call makes sense
- If you skip over this, prospects may get irritated
- Common Ground
- Make them feel attached
- Common ground builds trust and buys you a little more time with them
- This is the best way to put the prospect at ease and get them to actually listen
- The Reason
- Get to the point and don’t waste their time
- “The reason I’m calling is…”
- Be tactful with your reason for calling
- Inspired Question
- Ask the right question
- Should not be able to be answered with a “Yes” or “No”
- Invitation
- Don’t invite them to hire you
- Invite them to receive some free value
- NEVER leave the conversation without some sort of invitation or commitment
