Boundaries and Filters

Just because you have the time or infrastructure to take on a task, does NOT mean you should.

You can be flexible and accommodating without being a pushover

Eliminate

• Is it really necessary
• Can they do it themselves?

Boundaries

• Is it beyond our contract?
• Does it break any policies
• Can it be resolved within our process?

Tools

• Can it be reasonably be done with a tool or automation?

People

• Can one of my contractors of VA’s handle it?

If tasks can’t be eliminated or handles after going through those checks, then it is a task for you.

Example Boundaries

• All project calls will be scheduled in advance. No other calls will be necessary.
• All communications must be done through Slack. Message will be addressed and responded to within 48 hours.
• All revision requests must be submitted by a certain date. Then all will be addressed at once. All must be submitted via Notion.
• All communication is to be directed to the Project Manager.
• Project cannot be expedited or changed mid-project.
• Extra work will not be added without a change in price and timeline.
