Payton’s biggest takeaway for training: “Pivot to make design your advantage, not your offering”
Ii web design is just your offering, the ceiling of what you can offer is just web design. But if you look at how you can use your web design skills to launch business, grow into different spaces, that will take you much further.
Example story:
- Payton jumped into a Discord server to test out AI prompts with Mindjourney
- So he created Discord server “Design Prompts” for free in exchange for email
- Launched with a YouTube video, had 1300+ designers sign up a few days after launch
- Very quickly had proof that there is a lot of interest in this type of AI tool for designers
- Used that proof of concept to start formulating business super quickly with skills learned from being web designer
